THE BOOK | ANITA WALSH

January 1, 2006

"I remember thinking about how these farmers and producers embrace hard physical work, risk, weather, disappointment, bugs, and early morning drives to the market so that I may eat beautiful things.

I decided to buy some eggs that day at the market in Dupont Circle and to draw them. I continued buying something at the market each week, taking the item home, and drawing it with great attention to detail."

Bob Wollam and other local farmers read excerpts from the book at the Dupont Market Sunday, October 14, 2007. Photos by Tom Kochel.

The limited edition Dupont Market book documents a year at the market in a series of drawings. The book also includes reflections from artisans and local farmers, and recipes by chefs who shop at the market weekly. All 53 of the original graphite drawings (8.5" x8.5") will be shown as an installation in the near future—although the dates and location have not yet been determined.

"Your book is extraordinary. I am savoring every page. I used your ugly drawing as a focus for class last week. Amazing work, my friend, it is love manifested." Susan McCulley, Charlottesville, VA

"Thank you so much for the gorgeous books!!! I am taking my first vacation in a very long time and can't wait to spend time reading your book! I am sending the second copy off to my brother who I know will love it also." Eve Aronoff, Ann Arbor, MI
